Change of Seasons

For the last month there has been lots of discussion about how early the season is changing.  All of the country has had a mild winter and in most parts of the country we seemingly pasted over spring and jumped right into summer. The national media reported records were broken all over the country with record heat for spring,  everywhere the topic of conversation was the pollen count due to early blooming of everything, and even the cherry blossoms in our Nation’s Capitol were blooming way ahead of time..OMG!

Everywhere and everyone have been discussing the crazy weather and the problems it has the potential to cause. I have heard worries about there not being enough cold weather to kill the bugs so the crops are going to be eaten up, the summer is going to be too long and hot and the cost will be drought, there was not enough cold weather and it was not long enough for the cycle of natural freeze then budding to produce fruit…these are just some of the worries.

There has been a lot of worry and discussion. But think about it…is all this by chance? Is it some random act? Are we and our world at the mercy of “whatever”? I don’t think so! We have a God and Creator who was and is powerful to make not only the heavens, earth, every creature, every plant, and US! Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. Genesis1:29-30. Do you really think that he would create all and then it spiral somehow out of his control?!  Doesn’t he tell us he is already got a plan to provide for us!?“Lift your eyes and look to the heavens; WHO created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name, because of his great power and might strength, not one of them is missing.” Isaiah 41:26. If our God and creator knows every single solitary star, it is not for us to believe that he is in control of the weather? Again, he created all so all is in his plan for us. “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel says:”Tell this to your masters: With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it and I give it to anyone I please.” Jeremiah 27:5

Yes, statically this was a mild winter. Yes, statically we have not had much of a spring. Yes, all over the country the pollen counts were extremely high…and Yes, our creator is still in charge. Yes, every time a snowflake falls or a flower blooms or a egg hatches it is under his control, his knowledge, his plan! “He made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding. When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from is storehouses.” Jeremiah 51:15-16.

This spring as you admire a sunrise or a sunset, gaze at the trees around you in full bloom, marvel at the colors of the flowers blooming everywhere, turn your thoughts and conversation to our God’s power, wisdom, understanding, and control. Thank him for not only the warmth, the beauty, and the joy of spring but that this world is under his plan and he IS in control of it all….Thank you, our Almighty for this season and all of your creation!
