Far more precious than rubies!

Today is Mother's Day. I am one of those fortunate women whose mother is still living. I love my mother but also respect, admire, value, and adore her. My mama is my best friend and I love being with her. She is the strongest christian and prayer warrior that I know. My mama truly loves the Lord with all her heart and all her soul. She lives each day for Christ and strives to make him a part of every breath she breathes. Mama has worked hard all her life to be the kind of mother and woman that God wants her to be and seeks His guidance in all things. My mother is talented, strong, independent, fair, honest, compassionate, loving, selfless, hard-working, funny, and beautiful. She has selflessly cared for and been a part of the lives of  a husband, five children and their spouses, fifteen grandchildren, and now eleven great-grands with one on the way!

Let me draw you a very small mental picture of my mama...just a couple of weeks ago she was in the bed after having spent the day in the ER due to a problem with her back. She was in pain and couldn't straighten up. One of her granddaughter's-in-law came through Augusta, with two of the great-grands, on theri way back home to NC. The little red-haired great-granddaughter jumped up on the bed with grammie and was showing off her bug bite that was "real itchy". Great-grammie had to get the bactine and a cotton ball and take care of the tiny ant bite in that special way that only grammie can do. "Not pain, nor injury, nor medication can keep a grammie from her appointed duty"! This is her life...taking care of the needs of others...whenever, however, whatever...This is my mama...a woman of service, of love, of compassion, of peace, of love for her God, her husband, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

How can I ever thank you mama except to tell you that I will always honor you and try my best to live by your example. I will share in your love and commitment to our Lord and Saviour and  to our family. I will do my best to use what I have learned from you in my relationships with my Lord, my husband, children, siblings, friends, and you and daddy. Thank you mama...you are far more precious that rubies!

"And the greatest of these is LOVE!"
