Babies in our Father's arms
Y'all know I have a new
granddaughter...my first sweet little sugar plum! We all are so in love with her ...she is precious, just precious.
She is everything a baby girl should be...warm and soft, and smells like baby
powder. She smiles and kicks her tiny feet and makes those little newborn baby
sounds...one of God's finest miracles...babies!
The other day when
Granddaddy and I were over there visiting she started to talk to us (some
people might call it fussing or crying but we know it's talking:). Granddaddy
handed her over to her Mommy after he discovered that she didn't want to have a
conversation with him. By this time she had worked up into a rather loud
discussion. Her Mommy took her and within a few seconds and half a soft whispered
"shhhhh" she was calm in her Mommy's arms. Cradled in her Mommy's
arms she is happy, safe, secure, protected and peaceful. And her Daddy has that
special touch with her too. He gets those big arms around that sweet little
bundle and she cuddles right in. It has become a regular occurrence to see my
son on the couch with the baby sound asleep on his chest, heart to heart...safe,
protected, happy, and peaceful! "For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you
in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike
your foot against a stone." Psalm
91:11-12
Not everyone is blessed with great,
protective, loving parents like my grand babies. But each and every baby, child,
and person is blessed with the Father of all fathers. Jesus is waiting and
ready for us to have a "conversation" with him. Whether we are having
a good day and just want a hug or having a hard time and need to be cradled in
his arms HE is waiting and ready to do just that! When we have a meltdown in
life He is right beside us waiting to scoop us up and gently whisper
"shhh, I am here" to us. When we are afraid or lonely, insecure, or
disheartened our Father will wrap his arms around you and pull you into
him...close, safe, secure... heart to heart.
"He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither
slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your
right hand." Psalm 121:3-5
So today, go to your Father
and take a rest in the crook of his arm, lay on his chest and let his heartbeat
comfort you and make you rest securely. Let his big arms engulf you and protect
you and make you feel safe. Let God our
Father gently whisper, "Shhhh, I have you and this". And rest as peacefully as a baby!
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide
in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my
fortress, My God, in whom I trust!" Psalm 91:1-2
